Order of Engineers and Architects Headquarters
Designed: 2004 Location: Tripoli, Lebanon
located in a newly re-zoned area, the OEA Headquarters' new site is in an open area that is waiting to be developed. The headquarter building includes offices, conference rooms, an auditorium, a cafeteria and other functions necessary to facilitate building permit paperwork as well as any administrative and cultural functions for the OEA.
The proposal, part of a competition and selected among three finalist entries, organizes the offices along the main façade to elicit both physical and administrative transparency. The auditorium, located below ground, is accessible from the main entrance lobby through a large public stair. The glass and steel structure rises from its site evoking dynamism and vigour, while sitting in the midst of a tabula rasa plane that connects it back to the street.
