Doha Tower

Designed: 2003              Location: Qatar

The concept design is based on a curve rotation starting at the corner of Bin Sayyar and Bin Ahmad street intersection. The curve is offset to create the upper towers, starting with the two office towers which share a central steel and glass atrium. The retail's two levels also share the atrium which is a primary source of light and a major focal point. The curve twists away from the street maintaining the required setbacks and also to protect the tower from the sharp southern sun.

The residential tower has its own atrium which serves as the project secondary focal point. The structure is based on a 7.2m center to center grid. The underground parking is separated into a private zone for the residential tower and two public entrances for both the office towers and the retail zone. Finally, the curving volume wraps around to enclose a private outdoor area that includes a pool, tennis and basketball courts, reserved for the residents and office employees.
